As we head down to Georgia more for Phenom Hoops, we are hoping to have our eyes on more and more players from around the state. One of the top young players in the state to learn about is 2029 6’8 Alvin Pettway Jr from McEachern High School, as he is coming off a strong summer and looking to full bring a bigger impact for one of the top programs in the state. He discussed it all with us along with schools that are also heading his way early on. See what he had to say with Phenom Hoops.
Summer Ball and Development:
“I would say summer went well for me. I developed my handles, my shot-making ability, my three-point shot, and being able to rebound outside my area; then I was able to show scouts I can space out the floor, run the floor, show my versatility, and push the ball in transition.”
Game Description:
“I would describe my game as a skilled, physical interior scorer with guard-like touch and elite footwork; I like to operate from the inside-out.”
Embracing this upcoming HS Season:
“I’m ready to embrace it by taking on a bigger role, leading by example, and doing whatever it takes to help my team win a state title. My mindset is to kill everything that is in front of me and to win a title.”
Recruitment:
Pettway is just a prospect in the Class of 2029, so his journey is just starting. But it seems to have a strong start with programs already taking notice and making him a priority. Right now, he holds offers from Florida State, Kennesaw State, and Ball State, and he will be taking a visit to Florida State this fall or winter. Outside of that, though, other big-time programs in the region have eyes on him, with interest from Alabama, Georgia Tech, Auburn, Georgia State, and Georgia.
“They have been talking to my coach because I’m a sophomore, but they say they like my game attitude along with my leadership, and they’re going to come to my games this season.”
When you look at that list of interests, keep an eye on Alabama and Auburn early on, as those are two schools that Pettway mentioned as dream schools for him, so they could quickly jump up the list with an offer.
