The Class of 2028 here in North Carolina has been shaping up nicely, and we are eager to see who continues to take the next steps in the class. The guards throughout the state have been strong early on, really carving out a name for themselves. One of those guards has been 2028 Sherod McCormick, who was the general leading the way for CP3 and will be playing at Davidson Day this upcoming season.

We had a great opportunity to watch him again at the Seros Invitational, and once again, he looked like a strong floor general, helping lead the offense. Our own Patrick O’Brien had this to say at the event: “2028 Sherod McCormick (DWOK Elite) is a strong point guard that controls the game and tempo. He makes good reads, finds his teammates, understands how to run the offense, and is a strong driver.”

McCormick has been able to thrive in a variety of settings, understanding how to lead the charge, display poise and feel, play at his own pace, and control the offense. He brings a nice blend of creativity, scoring impact, and being a playmaker for others, displaying comfort in helping control the game.  He attacks well off the bounce, getting paint touches and scoring well over defenders, but also understanding how to set up his other teammates for easy baskets.  He consistently proved that throughout the summer this year and will be looking to do the same this upcoming high school season at Davidson Day.

As McCormick transitions into his high school career at Davidson Day, all signs point toward him continuing to elevate his game and solidify himself as one of the premier guards in North Carolina’s 2028 class. His ability to balance scoring with playmaking, while keeping teammates engaged and the offense flowing, makes him a strong guard in his class. If his growth this past year is any indication, McCormick is only scratching the surface of his potential, and many will want to start paying closer attention now.
