It is no secret that 2028 6’4 JaKaila Gaskin is one of the premier talents around the region, as she ranks as the top prospect in her class and is regarded as a national prospect overall. We have watched her turn into an extremely talented big, something that could be seen as early as three years ago, when she was just in eighth grade.

Back in 2023, Patrick O’Brien had a chance to watch her in action and had this to say about a young Gaskin.

“Gaskin was able to give you those flashes that you look for in a player who is still so young. She runs rim to rim, knows how to use her size and be a true big, has solid hands and touch around the basket, and knows how to be a difference-maker on both sides of the court.  She moves well without the ball, is active on the glass, and Gaskin should only continue to add more to her game as she gets stronger and older.”

She has only been able to build upon her game, becoming a dominant force in the paint.  Gaskin shines as an athletic big that can not only be a strong presence in the paint with touch and feel, but also a huge presence on the glass as well as a shot-blocker on the defensive side. We saw that on full display at the Phenom Lady Rumble, and you could even see that she has more in the tank as far as development. It is why she has racked in so many D1 offers from all over the country and has been a huge target for so many schools.

What Was Said at Event:

“2028 JaKaila Gaskin (HER Elite) is an athletic forward who impacts the game with her length & activity level. Utilized length to alter shots. Runs the floor well. Active on the glass. Finishes with touch around the rim.”

“6’4 2028 Jakaila Gaskin (HER Elite) is one of the best players in the building today. She brings it on both ends of the floor. Her size makes her incredibly versatile. She moves well without the ball. Just dominating all around.”

“Jakaila Gaskin ‘28 is a big asset on the block battling for points and sealing off her opponents calling for the pass. She runs the floor well being back in the press and exploding up the court to get the pass off a steal.”
