A strong get for Harvard, as Battier brings an intriguing game but also is one that still has clear potential. Standing at 6’7, Battier brings a fluid overall game, something he has shown for quite some time now. He is comfortable in operating from multiple levels, scoring inside and out in transition, runs the floor, can space the floor well with his perimeter game, but also can attack the rim off the bounce. Again though, he is one that we can clearly see has room for growth at the next level, which will make him an interesting prospect to follow.
What Has Been Said By Phenom Hoops:
“He’s a highly skilled forward with smooth perimeter shooting and growing ability off the bounce. Battier has always found success as a faceup option, both from midrange and beyond the arc, but is attacking and putting pressure on the rim more often than ever before. He’s a smart, willing passer who displays the size and vision to see the floor effectively as a playmaker. Battier possesses nice mobility and offers consistent effort to make his presence felt defensively and on the glass. Though he still has clear long-term potential, Battier should already be a real priority for various types of programs.”
“Although we’ve given Battier a lot of praise throughout the travel ball season, he continues to warrant attention. He stands out as the clear, undisputed leader for this group through his impressive production and willingness to take over the game in critical moments. Battier is an incredibly skilled, smooth-shooting forward with the IQ, size, and creation ability to be a versatile matchup problem for opponents. He knocks down jumpers, applies pressure off the bounce, and makes smart passes. Battier has also shown increased explosiveness and downhill ability over the recent months. He utilizes his length and motor to make his presence felt as a defender and rebounder.”
“At 6-foot-7, Battier is an exceptional three-point shooter who converts a very high percentage of his looks from beyond the arc. He’s also a smart passer who understands how to make the extra pass or effectively read the floor when attacking closeouts. However, he displayed a visible increase in toughness, creation skills, and ability off the bounce. Battier’s perimeter shooting is still his most valuable weapon, but his newfound confidence as a penetrator and finisher was undeniably intriguing. Having an elite shooter who can reliably attack closeouts and make intelligent decisions is an advantage for legitimately any team. Furthermore, Battier defended multiple positions and utilized his length to be disruptive in the passing lanes.”
