One of the top players not only in the state of North Carolina but also nationally ranked, 2027 LJ Smith has been proving why he is such a special talent this season. The Lincolnton product is having another huge season, averaging over 30ppg once again and putting on an offensive show. It is why schools are looking hard his way, as the 6’5 guard truly shines as an offensive weapon.
Smith has been adding several big offers this season that include Kansas, LSU, Tennessee, Clemson, Georgia, and others. He also visited Duke a while back and will be heading to North Carolina this weekend as the Tar Heels take on Pittsburgh.
North Carolina stopped by on Thursday night for practice, as Coach Lebo stepped into the gym to check out the rising star from North Carolina.
“Yes sir, they came to practice today,” Smith told Phenom Hoops. “They told me coach that he was very impressed and that I have all the intangibles as well as being super talented. Said they will be back.”
And with the staff stopping by, now Smith will be focused on heading to Chapel Hill this Saturday to learn more about the program, as a school that he says is his dream school.
“I’m really excited to be on campus and watch a game in person to see how hard they play and how the atmosphere is. I think it is a great program and one I’ve been watching since I was little. I like the way they play. It means a lot knowing they are recruiting me; just means I need to keep working and push myself harder.”
Again, when asked what his dream school was, he replied UNC. Phenom Hoops was also able to ask who he likes to model his game after and what he could bring. “Players like Tyrese Maxey, Darius Garland, and Rob Dillingham.”
