Player: Jagger Emerson
Class: 2027
Height: 6’5
School: Greensboro Day
Just a few years back, Phenom Hoops introduced a young prospect who caught our eyes with his skillset and appeal. 2027 Jagger Emerson was one who had a ton of tools at his disposal, along with potential, displaying a skillset that should have him as a player to watch highly in his class.
Unfortunately, Emerson has had to miss some time as of late but fast-forwarding to this offseason, Emerson looks to be back and ready to produce once again for the Bengals of Greensboro Day. Despite the lengthy time off, Emerson looked strong and active recently at the Phenom Fall League. He was active, strong off the bounce, good motor on the glass, and clearly displays a ton of versatility that will be used this season for Greensboro Day.
Emerson has the tools to be a player at the next level, especially with how he could be used in so many ways. He brings athleticism and the ability to create for himself; he uses his size extremely well to his advantage, understands how to effectively help run an offense, can play multiple positions on either end, and still displays potential with his development.
The tools he offers are certainly intriguing, and getting a chance to watch him back on the court was a great sign, as we expect Emerson to remind EVERYONE of his talent.
What Has Been Said:
“Emerson is a highly intriguing prospect who earned big minutes as a freshman for the Bengals last year. He’s an explosive athlete with good positional size and versatility. He should be able to slide into a handful of positions and roles this season and his low-maintenance approach to the game should prove valuable around the many other talented pieces on this roster. Look for Emerson to be a monster defensively for this group while filling in the gaps at a high level offensively.”
“Emerson has been a player we have discussed on several occasions, and each team we get a chance to watch him, you can see the potential in what he could ultimately be. However, there is still a ton of time for his development. Emerson has the size that you must like, already around 6’4 or 6’5, and showing that he can be a playmaker on the floor. He uses his size well, has the ability to create and score for himself, is a versatile piece both offensively and defensively, showcases good athleticism in his game, and plays with maturity on the court. Whether he is a defensive presence, scoring in a variety of ways, or being a strong presence with his size, there is a lot to like about this young man and I believe he will be a target for many.”
“Given everything he’s shown over the last calendar year, it feels like plenty of folks should already know about Jagger Emerson. For those who don’t, he’s a long, skilled wing/forward with an impressive array of tools. Emerson already scores the ball at a quality rate from all levels, showing great balance between applying pressure as a spot-up threat, attacking closeouts, and creating for others. He’s capable of playing without the ball, initiating the offense, or creating off the bounce. Emerson utilizes his length well to rebound and defend bigger players. Given the Bengals’ consistent success, folks should anticipate Emerson producing while steadily developing over the coming years.”
