This summer has been big for teams and players, as they look to prove themselves on the big stage. Out West, teams competed in the Section 7 event as teams not only looked to prepare themselves but also to put on a show for college coaches. Pinnacle was a team that impressed many, making a strong run throughout. A player who certainly grabbed the attention of many was 2027 point guard Cam Hurt, who helped carry his team and stepped up in a big way.
We spoke with Colin Mergen about Hurt’s performance, as he had this to say from the event:
“Cam Hurt continues to prove he’s a WINNER for Pinnacle Basketball. Outscoring the entire Lincoln squad in the final 2:26 of a tight game is impressive, but his belief in “team over everything” and “every rep counts” shows what type of leader he really is. Proud of you, keep going 100 percent.”
At the event, Hurt put up some impressive stats, averaging 26 points, 5 rebounds, 5 assists, and 2 steals per game in leading the charge for Pinnacle. Hurt continues to shine as a playmaking guard, bringing excellent handles, shiftiness, change of pace, and speed to get by defenders, and the ability to create space for his own shot. That doesn’t mention his ability to bring balance in facilitating as well as scoring. Hurt does an excellent job in reading the defense, playing at different speeds, and finding ways to impact the game as well as lead. He showed that throughout the event, he was the talk of the event with his overall performance.
His recruitment is still open, and schools are starting to recognize him more, but more should be looking his way with what he has been able to show recently and what we expect him to show this upcoming high school season.
