The summer is wrapping up but there are plenty of storylines to follow with recruits around the country, as many prospects have seen their recruitment hit another level. 2027 6’9 Landon Veal has been one as of late who has seen an uptick with his recruitment because of his play. After having a slow start, the last month has been huge with schools from all around offering him and making him a priority in the Class of 2027. Phenom Hoops spoke to him to catch up on all the latest, his development, and much more.
Summer Blow Up:
“This summer was a pretty rocky summer,” Veal said. “I missed the first session with a foot injury and came into the second session having to get acclimated to the team. But after that, it went well and I picked up nine offers this spring and summer. I was able to showcase my versatility within the game, trying to do a little bit of everything and guard every position, which I feel like I did a great job in doing. I definitely have developed my ball handling within these past few months and developed my perimeter defense.”
Latest in Recruitment
It has been a big few months for the rising senior, as schools have been coming his way with offers. Veal has been racking in offers from Charlotte, George Mason, Pepperdine, UTRGV, UNLV, Tulsa, and New Mexico in the last month, also joining Auburn, Tarleton State, TCU, Texas A&M, UTSA, Texas A&M Corpus Christi, and UTEP. We spoke to him more about the latest with his recruitment, as he has had a huge summer so far and it could only continue.
“They are saying they see me as a big, versatile wing with a high ceiling,” Veal said when asked about his recruitment and what schools have been saying his way. “They see me coming in and making an impact early on.”
“Schools like Pepperdine, New Mexico, UTEP, Tulsa, Tarleton State, and UNLV (have been making him a priority as of right now), and I have visits set up with Pepperdine, Tulsa, and UTEP so far, just no specific dates as of yet.
