An intriguing prospect out of Minnesota, 2027 6’10 Mustafa Mohamed has been catching some eyes with his play and overall intrigue. A lengthy wing that can score at the rim, make plays off the bounce, and score in a variety of ways, while also being a versatile overall piece on the court, Mohamed is able to flourish in an array of ways. We caught up with him to talk more about his game and development, along with his thoughts on his first D1 offer from Arizona State.
Game Description:
“I am a 4 that can create shots for myself and my teammates. I shot the mid-range shot well and drive downhill to the basket. I am a big threat in transition, looking up and pushing the ball at a fast pace. On defense, I can guard 1-5 and do well in the full-court press.”
“I’m a 6’10 wing/forward who plays the 3-4. I love pushing the ball in transition, creating for my teammates, and scoring in different ways. I bring a lot of energy to the court — I’m an electric, exciting player who can make big plays on both ends. Whether it’s setting up others or taking over when needed, I impact the game in multiple ways.”
Phenom 1-on-1:
Phenom: How has this summer been so far with Howard Pulley?
Mohamed: It has been great. We have been in the gym, a lot of 3-on-3 while also lifting and just staying in the best shape as possible.
Phenom: What have you been able to show more about your game?
Mohamed: Pulley has been great to me overall. They welcomed me and their practices are great. We work on a lot of situations, on offense and defense. I have more freedom to play my true position, certainly enough to showcase my ability to score on all levels. One big thing is that they let me push the ball in transition off a defensive rebound.
Phenom: What areas are you still working on with your game?
Mohamed: Getting stronger and just shooting a lot. Polishing up my game and just living in the gym.
Phenom: What has been going on recruiting-wise for you?
Mohamed: I just got an offer from Arizona State. My Pulley coaches have also been hearing from Nebraska, Creighton, Iowa State, and Minnesota. A couple of other schools are following me as well.
Phenom: Thoughts on the offer from Arizona State. What do you know about them?
Mohamed: Their coach, Bobby Hurley, is a well-respected coach, and they have had guys like Lou Dort come out of there. They are also in a tough conference.
