A guard that we talked heavily about last year was 2027 Khanye Moss from Mater Lakes Academy, as the 5’10 point guard was electric on the court when we watched him on the court. He is picking up right where he left off last year, as Moss has been looking to make another statement this summer with Nightrydas.  He recently announced that he had earned his first D1 offer from Jacksonville, while other schools are looking his way. Phenom Hoops gives you the latest on his recruitment.

What Has Been Said:

“At 5’10, Moss can be an electric presence on the court. Despite his size, one can’t deny his ability to be a playmaker and help bring instant offense to the court for his team, as well as a playmaker for others.  On several occasions in Rock Hill when we sat baseline, Moss was able to use that same speed and ball-handling to get around defenders and attack, scoring over defenders, getting to his spots, and finding ways to get to the line. But his ability to make plays off the dribble and facilitate to open teammates also impressed as well. Moss is a tough guard with what he brings to the table, whether it is making plays for himself, knocking down shots from outside, or finding open teammates; he just finds ways to make positive plays.  Which is why he could be a sneaky prospect to continue to watch out for down the road.”

Phenom 1-on-1/ Recruitment Update:

Phenom: How has the travel ball season been going for you overall?
Moss: The travel season has been well; we have multiple kids who can go. We started rough, but we started to glue together and beat tough teams.

Phenom: How would you best describe your game?
Moss: I like to describe my game kind of as a Jeremiah Fears type player, letting my teammates eat first, then I get mine. I like to see my team’s morale up and get everybody involved, but I also love putting the ball in the basket.

Phenom: Thoughts on your first offer from Jacksonville. What do you know about them, and what excites you early on?
Moss: I know about the culture and the coaches. They want the best for everybody who goes and plays for their program. It excites me because you know it’s my first offer, so I have to be a little excited, and I’m also happy that I’m good and skilled enough to be on a D1 coach’s radar.

Phenom: What other schools have been showing interest?
Moss: North Florida, Rice, and Stony Brook.
