Though many prospects have committed already in the Class of 2026, a new name has popped back on the board in 2026 6’3 Mason Williams from Tennessee Collegiate. He announced this week that he would be decommitting from Jackson State and seeing what might be out there, especially with how he has been playing to start the season.
Williams has been putting on a show, even recently with Phenom Hoops at the George Lynch Invitational. At the event, our scouts had this to say about his game:
“6’3 ‘26 Mason Williams (Tennessee Collegiate) dictates the action with incredible poise and intelligence. Touches the paint whenever he wants & consistently makes correct reads. Reliable shooter and defender. Leads by example.”
“2026 Mason Williams (Tennessee Collegiate) has been strong today. Strong and active downhill, finishes well, and really likes how he sees the floor. Strong guard that dictates the game well, sees the floor, and brings value all over the court.”
Williams is one who brings a lot of physical tools as well as understanding, feel, poise, playmaking, and scoring ability, as he has shown the ability to not only fill it up but be a playmaker for others. He has been a tremendous presence for Tennessee Collegiate so far this season, helping lead his team to some strong wins early on. Phenom Hoops was able to quickly get in touch with him to talk about his decision, and who may be entering the picture now.
“My dad and I talked and felt the same about reopening my recruitment. Then it just boiled all down to let’s see what’s out there because my hard work and talent is finally being seen,” Williams told Phenom Hoops.
Beforehand, schools like Ole Miss and Memphis had offered. Since reopening his recruitment thought, Williams earned an offer from Texas Tech and has heard from Ole Miss, Seton Hall, LSU, and Saint Louis so far.
“I would most definitely go to the university, especially since it’s in Texas and with me being from Dallas,” Williams said. “They also had a recruit commit, Dakari Spears, that I would love playing with.”
