Each and every time Phenom Hoops gets to report or see a commitment from a player we have seen over the years, it is always a fantastic day. It is great to see players achieve their goal to play at the next level and it is such a great accomplishment for that player. Here is the latest commitment.
Player: Kobe Edwards
Class: 2026
Committed to: Elon
Game Breakdown:
Edwards has proven to be an elite guard here in North Carolina and with him staying in North Carolina and heading to Elon, this program was able to grab a huge commitment for the future. When you talk about his game, Edwards is one that can be an elite athlete with the ball in his hands. Edwards has excellent length and athleticism in his game, covering a ton of space, displaying tremendous speed, and is an electric playmaker whether it is scoring or facilitating. He attacks well off the bounce to get to the rim, has tremendous body control and finishing ability, and can score from multiple levels. But he brings a tremendous presence in his ability to score, facilitate, and lead on the court; furthermore, I do believe there is more potential left in his game at the next level. Overall though, a tremendous get for Elon in landing a center piece for the future.
What Has Been Said by Phenom Hoops:
Next, Kobe Edwards is a 6-foot-2 prospect in the Class of 2026. Currently in the process of choosing where to further his playing career, he attended camp and provided his usual level of dynamic ability. Edwards is a wiry, explosive guard who knows how to run a team or produce without the ball. He utilizes his quick first step and change of direction to break down opponents and touch the paint at a consistent rate. Edwards applied pressure from all levels, set up others, and rebounded the ball well for his size/position. He also forced turnovers on a regular basis. Next in his development process is working to get stronger, as it will only help prepare him for the college game. Coach Hunter on Edwards: “Kobe is a score-first combo guard. He’s excellent at shooting off the bounce and also does a good job of reading screens. He’s a good athlete and very capable scorer at all three levels.” Edwards stood out as a difference-maker at camp and should be poised for a highly productive senior campaign for Greenfield.”
“Edwards impressed with his poise and control as a lead guard, consistently attacking gaps, creating for others, and keeping the offense flowing. His combination of length, athleticism, and feel allowed him to impact the game in multiple ways. Edwards showcased his ability to score at all three levels—knocking down shots, finishing at the rim, and making smart reads as a playmaker. His balance between facilitating and scoring makes him a dynamic and intriguing prospect with plenty of upside.”
“Wiry, athletic lead guard with quickness, explosiveness, and a balanced approach when running a team. Effectively runs the team while actively touching the paint and creating for himself and others. Understands how to expand his production as needed. Capable shooter who applies consistent pressure at the rim. Possesses great anticipation and instincts as a defender, but will only continue to improve as he gets stronger. Should be the undisputed leader for Greenfield.”
