The Phenom New Year’s Bash was another premier event that showcased talent from around the region, as players continued to capture the attention of our scouts with their play. One prospect that left a lasting memory from the event was 2026 guard Justyn Whitfield from Victory Christian.

Whitfield has been a staple with this program for some time now, as we have watched this young man grow and develop into a strong prospect that college coaches should be looking at. Last year, Whitfield was a huge part to the team’s success in winning a title, and his role grew even more as he has fully embraced it. Averaging over 20 points per game this season, Whitfield has been the catalyst for this offense in showing how strong he is as a creator and playmaker. Time after time, Whitfield was able to fill it up for VCCS at the New Year’s Bash, something he has been doing quite often this season. He is an extremely confident shooter from all levels, hurting you from behind the arc on several occasions, creating space and getting to his spots for his shot, and also being a crafty skilled guard who can create and finish with touch over defenders. He knows how to put the ball through the hoop, as he has had several big games and knows that opponents are targeting him to slow him down.

But Whitfield has produced in ba ig way after big way, as he has his eyes on the big prize once again along with gaining the attention of more college programs around the area.

What Was Said:

“Whitfield has been a proven piece for this team for some time now, and he showed up big once again with a 32-point performance to secure the victory. Whitfield continues to shine as the focal point offensively, creating exceptionally well for himself, scoring from all levels, hurting opponents from deep, and being crafty in attacking as well. He mixes it up so well and that was on full display on Day 1.”

“6’3 2026 Justyn Whitfield (Victory Christian) has been excellent thru 2 games here at #PhenomNewYearsBash. Game 1: 32p 4r 5a / Game 2: 24p 5r 6a. Crafty lefty guard who can fill it up from behind the arc. Expect his recruitment to really pick up. Stock riser.”
