When talking about underrated talents around the region, I believe 2026 6’5 BJ Brown would fit that model. A prospect from Sumter HS down in South Carolina, Brown has continued to be a pivotal piece to his team’s success no matter what and proves that he can be a strong piece on the court. With his blend of size, shot-making, and added development, I believe Brown should be seeing more of an uptick in his recruitment.

“There is something about Brown’s game that grabs my attention and really do believe there is still a ton of potential to his game. He has great size for his position, using his length and size well to his advantage along the perimeter.  He is confident in his ability to knock down shots from three or mid-range, but also showing he can attack downhill effectively to finish. Brown has shown time after time he can be an effective shot maker on the court as well as a playmaker, and as he continues to develop, get stronger, and show his assertiveness, he should be one D1 programs have their eye on more.”

And it may be starting to trend that way, as he has now added more as of late. We quickly spoke to him about what the latest is, who else may be entering the picture, and visits he has coming up.

Recruitment Update:

Brown earned his first D1 offer not long ago from Presbyterian, as we spoke to him about it shortly after. “With it being my first Division 1 offer, I was pretty excited,” he said.  “They are a program that has had their eyes on me for a while, and it feels good that they believe in my abilities enough to offer me a scholarship. They are a great program, and I like the kind of culture Coach Ferrell and staff are building at Presbyterian.”

It didn’t take long for more offers to come in, as Coastal Carolina, Towson, and his latest from Drexel are now on board.  As far as schools expressing interest his way, Brown mentioned that UMass, Wofford, and Liberty are in the mix.

Brown has two visits set up right now, with one being to Towson on September 6-7 and Coastal Carolina on September 12-14.
