Over the past few years, Washington has continued to validate the early buzz surrounding her game. From the moment she first caught the attention of scouts in North Carolina, her blend of size, versatility, and competitive motor made it clear that she was a prospect with tremendous upside. Now, with Ardrey Kell making a deep run in the NCHSAA playoffs, Washington has stepped into the spotlight once again, showcasing the all-around impact, leadership, and playmaking ability that have made her one of the premier prospects in her class.
Washington was one who clearly stood out with her play at a young age. Back in 2022, when she was just a new name here in NC, our own Patrick O’Brien had this to say about her game:
“Washington is a young prospect, but just from the flashes that we saw, she could be one of the next big names to come through the Charlotte area. She has great size already, but she does a tremendous job in making plays for herself and for others, getting into the paint, delivering terrific passes, and showing that she can hit shots from outside. Put her name down to watch.”
Fast forward to 2023 at our Lady Top 80, we had this to say:
“She’s a smart, rugged, high-motor wing/forward prospect with an incredible nose for the ball and the ability to cause a ton of problems for opponents through her defensive presence. Washington utilizes her blend of quickness, positioning, and sheer instincts to shut down opponents and force turnovers at a seemingly nonstop rate. She’s an excellent rebounder with an understanding of how to push the break and make plays in transition. Washington does a great job of getting downhill, attacking the basket, and finishing or making the necessary pass to set up others. She’s willing to do whatever possible to provide her team with an edge.”
Now, we sit here today with Ardrey Kell playing in the Final Four of the NCHSAA Playoffs and Washington leading the charge in impressive fashion. Regarded as one of the top prospects in her class, Washington holds the Lady Knights scoring record (and counting) and has proven that she is a player that impacts the game all around. Whether it is her scoring ability, her length on the glass, her versatility, or her overall leadership for her team, Washington has consistently been a presence for her team this season as she hopes to be cutting down the nets in the end.
No matter what though, Washington has proven to be a big-time talent here in NC and one that we can’t wait to see how she continues to take her game to the next level.
