Continuing our coverage recruiting-wise, around North Carolina, 2026 Ashton Pierce certainly is a player worth keeping an eye on. Having not heard much as of late as far as the latest, Phenom Hoops was able to get in touch with Pierce to learn about his latest visit, as well as more visits coming up.
Pierce, who is coming off a state title with North Meck, has been a key player for the Vikings over the years and looks to have another strong season. His recruitment has been picking up lately, with schools making him a priority. One school that has been expressing interest his way has been Elon, as he recently made a visit and picked up an official offer from the program.
“They have a great coaching staff,” Pierce told Phenom Hoops. “The campus and the people are all amazing. What really stood out to me is how they prioritized academics. They continue to say that I fit well with the program and would love to have me there.”
Pierce admits that he has been able to develop a strong relationship with the staff, especially with head coach Billy Taylor.
As far as other schools, though, that could be in the mix for Pierce, he has visits set to Sacramento State on September 19-21, Longwood on September 27-29, and a visit to Kennesaw State in early October. Outside of that, the other school that continues to stay strong in his eyes is East Carolina.
Phenom Evaluation:
“He’s a smart, polished guard prospect with a lethal scoring arsenal and sharp playmaking sense. Pierce is comfortable operating as a primary creator and dictating the action with the ball in his hands. He’s a willing passer, but understands how to take advantage of opportunities from all levels. Pierce is a reliable defender and rebounder with the ability to make a consistent impact on both ends of the floor. Coach Moore on Pierce: “Ashton is a high-level player with a ton of ability. Can shoot from the outside, create off the bounce, and get to the rim at will. He makes good decisions with the ball in his hands and works well within the team structure.”
