The Top 100 Camp brought players all around the country to one gym in Rock Hill (SC), as they competed and proved to be some of the best talent around. There were plenty of high-level players in attendance who have already made a name for themselves, but others proved that they are recruits to look at more. One of those stock risers in my opinion was 2026 6’8 Julius Avent from Bergen Catholic High School.

Avent had a huge showing at the camp, averaging 17.4 points, 6.0 rebounds, five steals, and shooting 49 percent from the floor along with 36 percent from three. What impressed us the most with his game was just how physical he operated on the floor. As a 6’8 prospect, Avent overpowered opponents constantly, attacking downhill and overwhelming opponents with his strength, but also doing a great job in finishing at or around the rim. He got out in transition well, broke down defenders, and was aggressive in getting where he wanted. But Avent proved to be a multi-level scorer, picking his spots, being able to operate from the mid-range, and hitting shots from the perimeter as well.

Again, he can impact the game in a variety of ways, whether it is guarding multiple positions, helping on the glass, spacing the floor, creating for himself, creating and embracing contact, and bringing strong energy to the court. All of that could be seen on the court at the Top 100 camp, as his stock rose after his showing at the event.

Recruitment Update:

With his strong performance in Rock Hill, Avent saw an uptick in his recruitment. Penn State, Michigan State, Mississippi State, and Providence all came in with offers shortly after his showing, while still holding offers from Xavier, Washington, Seton Hall, Villanova, and several other D1 programs around the country.

In speaking with Avent shortly after the camp, Avent is looking to schedule a few visits in the near future. He has plans to visit Seton Hall sometime in June (no set date though) and also visit Michigan State by September.
