Phenom: What made Queens the place for you in the end?
Watford: Queens just felt like home. The principles, the philosophy they have, and the fact they have been here since Day 1, consistently talking to me and letting me know I was a priority since Day 1.
Phenom: What has the relationship been like with the staff there?
Watford: It has been great. I’m good with all the staff, especially Coach Bailey and Coach Leonard.
Phenom: How do they see you in their system?
Watford: They see me as a combo guard, being able to make decisions on the court, playing my game.
Phenom: What is your excitement about staying close to home and playing college ball?
Watford: Not too far from family and with college ball, just the experience, getting better, playing under a good system and coach, and getting better prepared to be a pro.
What Does This Commitment Mean to Queens:
When hearing about this commitment, I immediately thought “What a steal” for a program that is close to home, and I believe Watford has a chance to really flourish with what he provides. Watford is a very intriguing prospect, and I do believe that he doesn’t get the attention he deserves all the time, but you can’t deny the production this young man provides on the court. He is a true leader on the floor; he brings a lot of versatility in what he can do and impacts the game in so many ways, as he never lacks a motor or energy. He is really good at attacking off the dribble and getting downhill, covering a ton of space, and finishing well with his 6’4 frame. He also is engaged on the boards, can help run the offense and set others up, and be an impact on the defensive end. Watford has continued to put in the work in expanding his game out on the perimeter, which will only make him harder to defend.
