2025 Cooper Davenport from Henderson High School and Nashville Stars AAU was impressive the first time I saw him play in real-time. He was fierce and scrappy on the defensive end. His energy and nonstop motor were dazzling. In a limited time, this gem shined with the best of them on its run to a national championship. He held his own on every big stage in the country where this squad competed.
Davenport shot 62 percent from 2pt range and 39.5 percent from 3pt range; he also averaged 2.2 rebs and 1.2 asts. He has a very high IQ and does whatever it takes to help his team win. Don’t let the numbers fool you, this kid can flat-out shoot when needed but he is the perfect facilitator and glue guy for this loaded team. He comes with a strong work ethic and leadership as a proven winner.
Last year, he was second on the team in scoring on the team with 30+ wins earning All-District and All-Region. Averaging 12.3pts a game but Cooper had multiple games of 20+. Davenport’s defense was rock solid with 6blks, 36stls, and 39defl. It seems as though he is poised to have a breakout upcoming season. His goal is to raise his average to 18.5 points per game while shooting 45 percent and leading his team to a state tournament.
I believe he can be that leader as he established himself effectively en route to the national title. Gaining weight and strength over the summer certainly will help in pushing for that goal. We will certainly keep track of this young star whose stock is on the rise. Get to Kentucky this season and see him put on a show.
