Back in 2022, Caden Giles was a player who captured my eyes with his blend of size and play at the Phenom Queen City. At that time, he showed touch and feel, used his size well, and was able to be an effective scoring opportunity. Giles though has only continued to put in the work and now being part of the Class of 2025, he is garnering more attention his way. We had him at our South Carolina Top 80 Camp, where we had this to say about his game:
“He’s a long, mobile post prospect with a great combination of IQ, touch, and inside-out scoring ability. Giles finishes well around the basket and above the rim but also knocks down shots at a quality rate from midrange and beyond the arc. He contains his assignment well on the block, alters shots as a help-side defender, and runs the floor well in transition. Giles also secures rebounds at a consistent rate on either side of the ball. Coach Burnette on Giles: “Caden is a good post player. Displays a good understanding of the game. Scores well on the block but needs to work on expanding his array of moves with his back to the basket. Caden has good shot form from distance.” Giles did a lot of things well at camp and should be a target for several types of programs entering his senior season.”
Phenom contacted Giles shortly after his offer from Milwaukee to learn more about his thoughts, what they had to say, if he has an upcoming visit, and which other schools have been showing interest his way. Check out what he had to say.
Phenom: How did everything go this summer or you and your game?
Giles: Everything was good this summer playing on the 3SSB circuit. I was talking to all levels after this summer. My game improved a lot I feel, like expanding my game on the perimeter. I have improved my shooting, playing the wing, and getting to the basket. My post-up has improved more with me facing up now and not always playing back to the basket.
Phenom: What was it like to get that offer from Milwaukee? What did they have to say when they offered?
Giles: It was just exciting to get that offer from Milwaukee. Anyone would be excited by any offer but a Division 1 offer is a great feeling. They were saying they wanted me to come up for a visit and feel like I could be a great fit for the team based on how I play.
Phenom: What do you know about them?
Giles: I know that they are a winning program and that it is a great coaching staff.
Phenom: Have any plans of visiting or anything set up?
Giles: I will be visiting Milwaukee I haven’t set up a 100% date yet, but I will be visiting.
Phenom: Any other schools really recruiting you hard or showing interest your way?
Giles: I would say I am hearing mostly from UNC-Asheville, Richmond, Davidson, Cornell, and Mercyhurst.
Phenom: What have they been saying overall your way?
Giles: They have been talking to me just building a relationship with me. Trying to just learn more about me and tell me about them and their school. I plan to hopefully visit these schools also.
