A hot name around the area has been 2022 Kanye Clary, who plays this season with Massanutten. Not only has he been showing an impressive game but he is continuing to grab the attention of college coaches, with one program recently sending an offer his way.
Clary is an intriguing guard to watch. Phenom Hoops got a chance to view him back in November, where Patrick O’Brien had this to say about what he saw:
“The smaller guard already has the attention of many college coaches, holding a few offers already including one from Texas A&M. Clary showed that he can be a shifty and crafty lead guard that creates for himself in attacking the paint or to create for teammates; just give him the ball and make plays. Played with a great feel on the court and understanding.”
He has continued to play veyr well recently in events, as he has really been focusing on how to showcase his talents on the court and staying focused with his mentality.
“I really have just been trying to approach every game with an underdog mindset and that I have something to prove,” Clary told Phenom Hoops. “It has helped me with staying humble and remembering that I’m not where I want to be yet.”
That mentality has really helped him on the court and college programs are starting to recognize what he can provide. Already holding previous offers from Hampton, Norfolk State, Old Dominion, Texas A&M, and James Madison, Clary recently announced that he has added an offer from Penn State.
“I like the program and the coaching staff and now, I’m just looking to build a relationship with them,” he said. “They called my AAU coach and parents and informed them about the offer.” Associate head coach Adam Fisher was the one to reach out their way, adding another impressive offer his way.
As far as the other schools that have offered, Clary mentioned that James Madison and Old Dominion have been applying the most pressure, while Texas A&M has been staying in touch as well. But schools like VCU, South Alabama, Virginia Tech, Pittsburgh, West Virginia, and Richmond have all been expressing interest as well.
Game Description:
