
Most recently, 2021 Gianni Thompson who is a 6’8 prospect, announced his Top 7 programs, all of which seem to be looking to land a prospect on the rise.
When speaking to Thompson, he mentioned that it is all about the right fit for him.
“For me, it is all about fit and just how much interest the schools showed in me,” he told Phenom Hoops. “Whether that be how long they have recruited me for or just how much I am in contact with them, that combined with building the relationship with the staff and seeing how I would fit in the system.”
Richmond, Penn State, Xavier, Virginia Tech, Boston College, Temple, and Providence made his Top 7 list, as he broke down each program and what stands out about them.
Richmond: “They have recruited me really hard and made it a priority that I understand how I would fit in.”
Penn State: “Penn State just had their historic year and the staff shows real promise for the future and they are very appealing.”
Xavier: “Xavier has their history of winning and their success with Naji Marshall makes me feel that I can do a lot of the things he did.”
Virginia Tech: “They are playing in the ACC and seeing them play and also seeing myself as someone that could play a similar role that they had with Landers Nolley last year.”
Boston College: “BC, being another ACC school, that is my hometown schools; what kid didn’t dream of having the opportunity to do that. That is just really intriguing.”
Temple: “Temple has recruited me for a long time and made me a priority and shown that they really feel that I would be a great piece from the jump.”
Providence: “I’ve been to (the program) numerous times and just really familiar with the program and staff. It is kind of like a good sense of familiarity for me.”
