Cedric Patterson, a 6’1 guard that played at United Faith this past season, has shown on multiple occasions that he has intriguing talent and with his recent news of now playing at Moravian Prep and playing a national schedule, he has a big opportunity to show everyone even more of what he can do on the court.
He is a smart, crafty, well-rounded guard that plays tough on both ends of the floor.
This offseason though, he is looking to put in the work to show why he should be considered one of the top point guards in the state. See what he had to say in our latest 1-on-1 with Patterson, and who has been showing interest his way.
PHR: How did this past season go for you individually' What were you able to show and how were you able to grow as a player'
This past season individually for me was really good. I was able to grow as a leader and as a point guard. I got to show that I can balance both my scoring and facilitating efficiently while playing both sides of the floor.
PHR: This offseason, what are you looking to continue to work on and focus on'
This offseason I’m looking to continue to get stronger and more athletic. I’ve also been making sure to keep improving my skills and knowledge of the game so I can be ready for the national level competition I’ll be facing this upcoming season.
PHR: Recently announced you would be heading to Moravian Prep. What are your thoughts on that opportunity' and What are you hoping to show there'
Moravian Prep is a great program and it’s the perfect opportunity for me to showcase how good I really am by competing on the national level. I’m going to prove that I’m one of the best point guards in the country and help lead the team to be the best that we can be.
PHR: How would you best describe your game and as well, your mindset on the court'
I would describe my game as a two-way playmaking point guard. I’m shifty, can shoot it, and have a high basketball IQ. I can score on all three levels and get to any spot on the court that I want whenever I want, which leads to easy open shots for me and my teammates while locking down on defense and containing my matchup. I have the mindset of a winner and competitor and I give it my all every time I touch the court.
PHR: How has your recruitment been going' What schools have been in contact with you'
My recruitment has been really good, the schools that I have talked to have been Furman, Lehigh, Yale, Dartmouth, Longwood, Cornell, Winthrop, UMBC, Army West Point, VMI, and recently my coach has talked to Louisiana Monroe. I also have a lot of other coaches who haven’t reached out yet following me on social media as well.
PHR: What have they been saying and would you say any have been really strong with you'
They have all been saying that they love my game and can’t wait to get to see me play. They also believe that moving to Moravian Prep was a great choice for me to make, I have a great connection with all of the coaches recruiting me but I would say Yale, Lehigh, Dartmouth, and Furman have been the strongest so far in recruiting me.
