
We continue on Day 1 for the NCHSAA State Championship Games, with Wilson Prep and Robbinsville matching to take home the 1A State Title. Both teams looked to come out strong and make the first statement, but these teams were quite balanced throughout much of the first half. The game was tied at 12 after the first quarter, and Wilson Prep was able to hold the narrow edge going into halftime, 28-24.
These teams continued to battle back and forth throughout the third quarter as well, as this championship was up for grabs throughout the game. It wasn’t until the fourth quarter that Wilson Prep used a 12-0 run to break open the game. Defense was key in this game, as Wilson Prep was able to create 24 turnovers that led to 25 points. Wilson Prep also held Robbinsville to 29 percent shooting, despite only shooting 34 percent from the floor and 1-for-18 from three.
2028 Paris Best was the go-to player in this one, finishing with 21 points while also recording eight rebounds and six steals in the game. Abby Wehr led Robbinsville with 11 points, but Wilson Prep was just too strong, securing its first state title.
