The state of North Carolina is blessed with an overabundance of talent. In the North Carolina 2018 class, 60 plus players signed with D1 schools and another 40 plus signed to play at the D2, D3, NAIA or Juco level. Quite impressive numbers! This year, the 2019 class is on the same course to have 100 plus players continue to play at the collegiate level. In our unsigned senior spotlight, we want to take a closer look at 6'6 Cameron Caroway of Bishop McGuinness Catholic High School in Kernersville, North Carolina and is someone that we strongly feel is a college-worthy player.

The two-sport athlete is in the midst of his final high school basketball season, though his playing career could very well continue at the next level. We've seen Caroway countless times throughout the last few years and he's been consistent, reliable, and quite intriguing'especially for a prospect with very little recruiting buzz. This season, he's offered a strong leadership presence and has been arguably the most integral part to their success. The Villains have gotten off to an impressive 14-4 record and have easily solidified themselves as one of the top two or three programs in 1A (despite playing the second hardest schedule of anyone in their classification). A lot of their game plan is centered around Caroway and his two-way versatility, given the natural matchup problems he's able to cause. In his first season at Bishop McGuinness, Caroway is posting nightly averages of 18 points, 7.2 rebounds, 3.4 steals, and 2.1 assists. He has scored at least ten or more points in every showing this season (including games of 28, 25, and 24 points) and indicates no signs of stopping now. Those numbers alone should attract college coaches, but he's also a quality team player that understands the game on both sides of the floor.

We spoke to his coach, Josh Thompson, and he stated, 'I've coached Cameron since he was 15 years old and he has improved every season, adding new elements to his game and progressing as a player.' At 6’6 he is a matchup problem for nearly everyone with his ball skills and shooting ability.' Cameron can score at all 3 levels and has really improved in the last 6 months putting the ball on the floor and finishing at the rim.' He’s an underrated athlete whose length causes problems on the defensive side of the ball- Cameron has a very high ceiling as a basketball player.'Caroway has steadily developed and should start seeing an influx of offers/interest coming in throughout the coming months.
