FORT MILL, SC – Visit York County and THE Phenom Hoop Report have partnered together to bring a national level high school basketball event to Nation Ford High School. The inaugural event will be called Battle at the Rock presented by Phenom Hoop Report and will be held November 30 and December 1.

With this being the showcase’s first year, the planning came out swinging putting together and all-star caliber field of talent to compete in the event. Two of the pre-season Top 5 teams in the country will be present along with four defending state champions and two other defending state runners up.

The field of teams is headed up by IMG Academy (Bradenton, Florida) and Oak Hill Academy (Mouth of Wilson, Virginia).

Last season Oak Hill finished second in the Geico High School Championships (formerly known as Dick’s Nationals) and ended up ranked 3rd in the Fab50 end of year rankings. Oak Hill Head Coach Steve Smith is in the Naismith Hall of Fame having accumulated a career 1,118-72 record (94%) and 9 national championships.

This year the Oak Hill team has reloaded and, on paper, will put forth their most talented team yet. USA Today Chosen 25 #1 player Cole Anthony headlines the group. The 6’3 point guard is down to his final twelve schools, and it is a who’s who of Top 20 programs.

Also on the Oak Hill roster is:

Looking at IMG Academy, last year they finished the season 22-5 ranking 39th in the country and 14th in the Southeast Region according to The Fab 50 powered by Ball is Life.

The 2018-19 IMG Academy team has absolutely reloaded. In USA Today High School Sports recent Chosen 25 in the 2019 class (their Top 25 rankings), IMG had three players ranked int eh Top 20 with Josh Green, Armando Bacot and Jeremiah Robinson-Earl. In the 2020 version of the Chosen 25, IMG Academy has 6’5” Jaden Springer ranked.
