Team standouts for game #1 for Team Denver, NC were PG Bryson Childress 5’10” super quick heady floor general and big strong #34 Jehion Johnson a 6’9″ force in the middle on both ends of the court. Mr. perimeter Bryson ran the team with great pace and knocks down the open jumper at will. The big man Jehion was the cement on the middle on post D and good footwork on O in the low post…what was most impressive was his Wes Unseld like full court passing off the defensive boards starting the fast break.
Upward Stars Columbia SC U17 had a few bright stars that gleemed in their first game of the day; #11 6’3″ Travis Thompson is a grinder with an outside / inside game in that he can score on the perimeter and down in the post. #24 Daniel Finney is a slim young P”penny Hardaway” type player who slashes and knocks down the perimeter jumper on the regular. Super athletic 6’4″ G/F Omar Cook #34 has a tremendous upside in that he defends end to end and is a grinder on the offensive boards, mid range to 3 point jump shooter and handles the ball well either hand.
