The Group of Death

With so much talent in the gym this weekend, every group in the event with have its own storylines. You have nationally ranked players, high wire athletes, you have dead-eye shooters, you have breakout candidates and so much more that will keep the fans on their feet.

However, no group stands out to us more than 17u ACC Group B. Like the others, this group contains great players, sure fire Division 1 prospects and breakout candidate players. But the storylines run much deeper than just that, these kids know each other. These programs are very familiar with one another.

Let's take a bit of a deeper look at these teams and why fans and coaches should make it a point to watch these games!

Team Denver ' NC

Denver played in April as an Adidas Silver Gauntlet team. During their first event on the Gauntlet they made a run to the Final Four, playing great as a team. This is the first year of Team Denver, interestingly enough they brought over Jackson Gabriel, Levonte Knox, Cody Cline and Bryson Childerss from the PSB program. They also brought over Jordan Stowe and Jalen Oneal who both started this season with Mooresville Magic.

Lets start with Jackson Gabriel. The 6'3' sharp shooter is North Carolina's 3rd all-time leading 3 point shooter. Impressive because he still has a year to go and only needs to make 121 3s (which he has done the last two seasons). Also, D1 schools will be keeping close tabs on 6'5' Saveon Falls and 6'2' Levonte Knox. Falls is a wing shot-maker who has 3 level ability with explosion and confidence. Knox is a jet-quick lead guard who touches the paint at will. Both Knox and Falls have the upside to be very good defenders in college.

Cline, Childress, Stowe and Oneal are all college level players as well. Guys that scholarship level teams really need to take a good look at.

Mooresville Magic

Magic really made their noise last season. They were led by Demarcus Johnson and Zane Haglan. This year they have added on 6'4' shooting guard Deangelo Elliot and 6'8' post player Elton Hooper. You also have Austin Edds and Myles Washington. Like team Denver, Mooresville Magic played in April on the Adidas Silver Gauntlet, making some noise.

The main guy on this team is Johnson, the long armed, explosive 6'4' point guard carries an Appalachian State offer. He carries position versatility on both offense and defense and should be one that D1 programs really watch hard in July. Deangelo Elliot is a major pick up as he is a sure fire shot maker who has deep range and a great frame. Elliot is a good athlete and plays with the utmost confidence, able to go for 30 in any given game.

Also, Haglan and Hooper are guys who scholarship level schools need to put eyes on. Washington is an unsigned senior the same scholarship level schools need to see and Edds is a tough, gritty guy who is a college guy.

Seeing that Jordan Stowe started the season with these guys and Jalen Oneal, just left this team and both went to Team Denver, that game should open some eyes.

PSB Wade

Wade is a group of scrappy players who can all pass, shoot and handle. They have great length and good size across the line up. All 9 of their players are college level guys, who should be looking to play at the appropriate level.

Eric Welch is the one who makes this team go. He is a jet-quick lead guard who changes pace great and touches the paint often. He has Tate Johnson and Duwe Farris on either side who can both stroke the ball in a 40%-50% kind of way with good size and great footwork.

Then he has the high-flying Stephen Clark cleaning up the class and finishing above the rim. He also has 6'8' Hayden Greene and 6'9' Brian Bennett who both are strong with great hands and touch as pick & pop like guys.

Being that Childress, Knox, Gabriel and Cline all played with these guys last season, that game should be interesting to see the type of competitive nature that comes out.
