Omari McGregor 6’1 161 2022 Life Christian Academy, Richmond VA

Omari has a sturdy frame and uses strength, quickness and tenacity attacking the rim but also has a nice touch on his jumper and can score it from all levels. He looks to make a quick move off the dribble and get downhill where he is aggressive and relentless attacking the basket. When attacking the rim Omari looks to use his body to out muscle weaker defenders at his position but also employs good speed and a powerful first step. He’s not afraid of going at bigger defenders and drawing contact and does a good job playing through contact. Omari can also fill it up from beyond the arc and off the dribble. He has a smooth, compact stroke and hits the catch and shoot jumper at a good rate.

He shows good consistency and fluidity scoring on the move either hitting pull up jumpers or runners. I was really impressed with his ability to shift into another gear and explode to the rim or when attacking space and the power with which he attacks the rim. Omari does a good job finding the open man off the dribble but he is clearly a gifted and capable scorer and his team welcomes his double-figure scoring output. Omari can be a game-changing defender as he mixes very good lateral quickness, foot speed and strength to defend the dribble and also defend multiple positions. He has a great motor and is always around the ball defensively both defending the dribble, in help defense and going hard to the glass to rebound the basketball. Omari is not mentioned often among a strong 2022 class but gained exposure with Black Top King’s and Queens AAU program and has started to turn some heads. I expect he will continue to force people to take notice with his solid play and his terrific strength and athleticism. Look for a breakout year for this talented and physical guard!
