Landon Stutt 6'2 175 2021 Grafton HS, Yorktown VA

One of the better 'catch and shoot' three point shooters in the 757 Landon is a strong, athletic and tireless player. He is constantly moving without the ball setting screens, using screens and misdirection cuts to get open. While he is very efficient and near automatic in catch and shoot situations, Landon is by no means strictly a spot up shooter. He has the ability to sprint hard off screens and with excellent balance and footwork receive a pass and elevate quickly and knock down shots off screens or off hard cuts with very good frequency and accuracy. Landon can put the ball on the floor and hit the step back jumper and one and two dribble pull-up showing smooth and discipline shot mechanics and footwork. His strong upper body allows him to withstand contact as he elevates into his shot and even initiate contact to get to the line. He can fight through contact and still get off a good shot. He has the ability to get his feet squared and when he does he's downright deadly with the jumper. As I've watched Landon's game evolve I've become more and more impressed at how good a scorer he has become off the dribble. Not necessarily one who will thrive in isolations, Landon does have a solid handle and attacks the basket with a quick first step and physicality. He does a great job using the shot fake against hard closeouts and attacks on a straight line employing good quickness and physicality. His ability to abruptly stop and elevate into a very good pull up jumper coupled with his strong upper body allows him to create space when tightly guarded on the drive but Landon also uses the threat of his jumper and dribble pauses or hesitations to get defenders off balance. He is a smart and sure ball handler, a very good passer and also does a great job setting screens. He is adept at finding the open man and creating for teammates when coming off screens and being picked up by defenders. Defensively Landon brings great energy and really competes. He has solid mechanics and is a very good athlete who moves his feet well and can contain the dribble. He is smart and anticipates well, always in position to make a play and always rotates timely to be where he is supposed to be defensively. He hunts extra possessions by getting after lose balls aggressively and by rebounding as he has a nose for the basketball and a winner mentality. Landon is a solid prospect for a college coach looking for a shooter or even someone to run their half court offense. His intangibles will certainly spark interest as he competes, has awareness, toughness, leadership and a winner's mentality in addition to his shot making skills. Landon has put up some impressive scoring stats at Grafton High School but the stat he is most proud of is his 3.5GPA! College coaches might also be impressed with that aspect of this skilled sophomore sharpshooter.
