It took five minutes for both teams to score a total of 5 points (3-2 with 11:00 left in 1st half) when suddenly within 20 seconds Team Winston scored five quick points capped off by a finish by Winston Salem native JR Reese. With an old school UCONN like 2-2-1 zone press Team Winston continued to dominate the 1st period taking a commanding 25-6 lead into half-time.
