Greensboro Day Vs. York Prep Standouts

6’5 2018 John Newman - The Clemson signee put on an absolute show all weekend, Newman had his home gym rocking the student section remained standing for two entire games.

Newman is possibly the most underrated recruit committed to an ACC school at the moment, he does so many things well you truly have to enjoy hoops to appreciate Newman. Offensively Newman has improved on his range from deep, he is a natural slasher and capable of finishing with either hand. Newman is an explosive athlete,  at one point in the game he caught an alley off the bounce from Tripp Greene dished from half court! Currently GDS is the top ranked school in the hoop state, Newman and company dominated York Prep in our night cap.

6’9 2019 Michael Fowler-  Fowler’s emergence is a major reason GDS has picked right up from last year.

The versatile forward is truly a bucket on the offensive end; Fowler can play down low and abuse his man in the post with up and unders and fade away jumpers, Fowler is dangerous in the pick N roll he can put the rock on the floor or burn the defense from deep. Fowler gave the York Prep fits from behind the arc, he also showed playmaking ability in the high post Fowler evaded double downs with surprising court vision and crisp kickouts to the wings.

6’8 2019 Dericko Williams is in an elite class when it comes to explosiveness and athleticism Williams is in an elite class.

Williams has major upside and heading into his junior year he already owns several High Major offers and has interest from nearly all the power five conferences in two sports. Offensively Williams uses strength and explosiveness to power past his man to the rim or go over them for easy putback dunks. Everytime Williams banged it us guys at the media table were convinced the rim was going to come down.  Williams is passionate on the floor, and he is an absolute warrior on both ends Williams is a guy you want on your side in battle.

2019 6’9 DJ Burns came in as good as advertised and we were impressed with the overall finesse of his game.

Burns is built like a college big right now and he uses his strength efficiently in the paint, but he has also polished up on the mid range fadeaway. Burns has next level footwork; he can completely freeze his man on the block and beat him to the cup. Burns connected on a pair of deep balls as well and really showed off versatility. GDS doubled Burns on majority of his touches but Burns was able to remain effective finding his shot. Burns has big time upside at the next level and he currently has some of the top programs in the nation fighting for his services.
