One prospect from Maryland, Earl Timberlake Jr., is one that people will need to watch in the coming years.

The class of 2020 could be a special one, as there are several interesting prospects out there earning a name for themselves early on.

One prospect from Maryland, Earl Timberlake Jr., is one that people will need to watch in the coming years.

Timberlake is a 6-foot-5, 190-pound shooting guard from Rock Creek Christian high school and currently holds three offers from Virginia Tech, Kansas State, and Penn State, as he broke down what stands out early on with those three.

Penn State: “Well Penn State is a family school I think and they really are big on family.  The coaches really care about the athletes he recruits.”

Virginia Tech: “Virginia Tech is the same way (as Penn State) and they are in the ACC.  When I visited, the atmosphere was crazy there and they treat their athletes very well.”

Kansas State: “They are in the Big-12 and they are big on football there but the team is up and coming.”

He has also been receiving interest from Maryland, West Virginia, and Georgia Tech as well, while already visiting Penn State, Virginia Tech, and West Virginia so far.

But this shooting guard has been impressive so far, as programs really like his game and will continue to follow him throughout the summer.

“I’m a tough player, slasher that gets to the rim,” he said when describing his game.  “I’m athletic, get to the free throw line, and can play my heart out on defense.  I also have good vision and can guard 1-through-4, as I’m a long athletic guard.

My strengths are getting to the rim and getting to the free throw line, defense, and handling the ball I would say.”

Timberlake will be running with Team Takeover 16u this season and has helped Rock Creek Christian Academy to a 25-2 overall record this season, averaging 7.9 points and 5.6 rebounds per game.
