Thursday night at Parkland High School we were able to see a pair of teams face off in the second round of their conference tournament. These two have been rivals for quite awhile now and it was easily visible. Both Tabor and Reagan looked to push the pace throughout this game but only one would prove successful.
Mount Tabor began the game with three consecutive post-ups from 6’7 ’19 Nicholas Evtimov and he converted them all. However, Reagan soared down the floor time and again; 6’0 Malik Miles was the difference maker, as he had 17 of his 20 points during a heated first half. Once 6’3 ’18 Isaiah Wilkins (Mount Tabor) started heating up, the games’ dynamic took a drastic change. Fortunately, Miles’ strong performance kept Reagan within four, 39-35, at the break.
That four-point deficit would be the closest for the remainder of this contest, as Tabor came into the second half with nearly everything falling on offense. Wilkins continued doing his thing on all three levels while 6’5 ’17 Cameron Robinson emerged as another worthy focal point within their offense; Robinson is the glue that holds this team together. In the end, it was a tale of two halves, as Mount Tabor advances 78-58 over Reagan.
6’3 ’18 Isaiah Wilkins: 23 points, 6 rebounds and 4 steals
6’7 ’19 Nicholas Evtimov: 10 points and 4 rebounds
6’5 ’17 Cameron Robinson: 17 points, 6 rebounds, 4 assists, 2 steals and a block
6’0 Malik Miles: 20 points and 2 steals
6’1 Jesiah Carlton: 10 points, 3 rebounds and 2 steals
