NC Phenom 150 Session 1

Team 6 Evaluations

Coach:' DeEarnest McLemore'

No. 6 5'6 '19 Nolan Brown (Franklinton HS Franklinton, NC)

Nolan has a great feel for the game and is very crafty with the ball. We were impressed with his court vision and timely passes. He was especially good off the pick and roll and made proper reads and passes. In addition, Nolan can finish well at the rim and has the ability to use either hand. The next step for Nolan is to improve his shooting mechanics, which will allow him to be more effective as a point guard. In addition, adding strength to his frame will allow him to become a better overall defender.

No. 31 5'10 '21 Painter Richards-Baker (Cedar Ridge HS, Hillsborough, NC)

Painter has the ingredients to become a solid high school player. He has really good fundamentals and an excellent team first approach to the game. Painter demonstrated an excellent attitude and played very unselfishly, not to mention playing good sound man-to-man defense. Simply put, Painter has the skills, but could develop more overall confidence in his game. In addition, Painter will develop more confidence, as he gets older and stronger. For the day, Painter's stood out more on the defensive end of the court.

No. 42 5'11 '21 Omari Bolden (Parkland HS, Winston-Salem, NC)

Omari is blessed with quickness and athleticism. While he stands a modest 5'11, Omari has lengthy arms and plays much taller than his listed height. He has good handles and is quite crafty with the ball, not to mention excellent range on his jump shot. The next step in his development is to improve his off the ball defense. Currently, he does a solid job of staying in front of his man defensively. As he grows and gets stronger, he will also feel more comfortable attacking the rim, which will make him a better all around better.

No. 67 6'0 '21 Chase Montgomery (Charlotte Latin, Charlotte, NC)

Chase has a strong and sturdy frame and has a good combination of athleticism and skills that should bode well for his long term potential. He has a good-looking stroke with extended range and is very crafty with the ball. It is easy to see that Chase has played in a very well structured system. He is very unselfish and plays excellent team basketball. As a matter of fact, he may have been too unselfish at times. Defensively, Chase has good lateral quickness and with his overall strength, can become a great on the ball defender at the high school level.

No.79 6'1 '19 Devin Bassett (Enka HS, Candler, NC)

Devin is such a fundamentally sound player. He is blessed with a high basketball lQ and simply knows how to play the game. He has a great feel for the game and his shooting mechanics on his jump shot are high level. In addition, he has excellent range and can hit the perimeter jump shot with consistency. We were also impressed with his ball handling abilities and was a passer friendly guard. Without question, Devin is a great team player that plays hard on both ends of the court. The next step in his development is to become stronger and more aggressive on the defensive side of the ball.

No. 104 6'2 '19 Eric Bethea (Fayetteville Academy, Fayetteville, NC)

Eric demonstrated a workmanlike approach the entire day, whether it was in stations/drills or game action. He has an excellent feel for the game and has good solid mechanics on his jump shot. Eric can score from all three levels and has a really nice midrange game. More importantly, he showed glimpses of finishing strong at the rim. Defensively, Eric is a solid defender on and off the ball and has the ability to be a lock down defender. The next step in his development is to become more aggressive offensively. He has all the tools to become an effective scorer.

No. 115 6'2 '19 Efosa U-Edosomwan (Charlotte Christian, Waxhaw, NC)

Efosa enjoyed a solid all around camp. He averaged 12 PPG and earned two votes as game MVP. First of all, Efosa has a high motor. He runs the floor well. Efosa has a strong hesitation move that freezes defenders and allows him to frequently get to the rim with ease. He finished well on his drives, but also impressed us with his 'kick out' passes to open teammates. While Efosa had a strong day offensively, he was equally as good on the defensive side of the ball. He played extremely hard defense and created turnovers and deflections.

No. 140 6'3 '19 Eddy Resendez (Rolesville HS, Raleigh, NC)

Eddy has a very deceptive but effective offensive game. He consistently used shot fakes both on the interior and on the perimeter to get his shot off. More importantly, we were very impressed with his vocal leadership during the course of the day. He demonstrated high character and cheered throughout the day for his teammates. Defensively, he was very effective guarding/defending multiple positions and when he defended the post, he did a good job of walling up and defending without fouling. While Eddy only averaged 7.7 PPG, it was his intangibles that came across as strong positives. These intangibles and team first approach earned him two votes as game MVP.

No. 151 6'3 '21 Jalen Walker (Fellowship Baptist Academy, Durham, NC)

The first thing that clearly presents itself about Jalen is his athleticism along with a terrific attitude. Jalen showed consistent effort and was not intimidated by playing against older and more physical players. Overall, Jalen was consistent on both ends of the court. He played equally as hard on the defensive end as the offensive end of the court. While he averaged 8.0 PPG for the camp, he earned two game MVP votes based upon his hustle and willingness to play tough man-to-man defense. Jalen will definitely be one to watch as he grows and continues to develop his skill set.

No. 176 6'8 19 Jake Van der Heijden (Ravenscroft School, Raleigh, NC)

What's not to like about a mobile and fluid 6'8 player that has an advanced skill set. He can play equally on the perimeter as well in the paint. Jake has a soft shooting touch with extended range and can bury the 3-point shot with consistency. We were impressed with his outlet passes after securing defensive rebounds. In the post area, Jake can finish with either hand and has tremendous upside and potential. Jake average 6.7 PPG and earned two votes as game MVP. For Jake, his upside is long term and he isn't any where from being the finished product, which is rather scary.
