6’11” 2019 Kadin Shedrick (Virginia signee)
Holly Springs HS
You can tell that Shedrick had a chip on his shoulder for this one. It showed clearly as he came out of the gates with 12 points and 8 boards at the half. He didn’t slow down much as he finished the game with 21 points and 14 boards, to go with 5 steals, 4 assists and 3 blocks. Not a bad day at the office as Shedrick showed off an array of low post moves, over both shoulders and going straight to your chest for dunks. He showed ball skills, as he pushed the break and was able to take his man off the bounce and he showed toughness on the block. He should get early look at playing time at Virginia, who is a top 10 program in the country. The national rankings should come, but who knows anymore with those guys.
6’3″ 2021 Elijah Jamison
Louisburg HS
Jamison is a sturdy and athletic lead guard. He has a great handle with excellent pace on the ball. His ability to navigate through opposing teams’ defenses and score the ball is uncanny. He is one of the premier players in North Carolina’s loaded 2021 class and his recruitment should follow suit. He finished this game with 28 points and 7 rebounds. Jamison carries an Ole Miss offer and (per Max Preps) is one of the top 20 scorers in the country. He has elite written all over him.
6’3″ 2020 Luc Richard Rameau
Ravenscroft School
Rameau is a no nonsense player who just goes about his business, and produces. In this one he finished with 30 points, but it was the way he went about getting his 30. He has great feel with the ball and a solid jump shot at each level. His is aggressive toward the basket and finishes through contact while making his free throws. Rameau is a very good defender, both on and off the ball, and he is a good rebounder. Scholarships should be no question for this one, especially with the success that, fellow Ravenscroft alum, Ian Dubose is having at Houston Baptist. Dubose set the archetype here.
6’4″ unsigned senior Jayvis Harvey
Southern Durham HS
Harvey burst out during summer ball this season and continued his tough play, with Team Felton, into the high school year. He is the leading scorer for this very good Southern Durham team. Harvey displays great ball skills, showcasing an ability to play as a secondary ball handler, and explosion as a wing. He also has nice touch with from beyond the arc and in the mid range. The recruitment should pick back up as numerous schools should come in.
Storylines
Elijah Jamison is the Conversation for #1 in NCs 2021 Class
Elijah Jamison is a name many know, however few have seen. He is Top 20 in the nation in scoring (per Max Preps) at over 30 per game. He also carries an Ole Miss offer already. With that said, he is a player that many should soon see with their own eyes. It has been highly noted that North Carolina’s 2021 class is as deep as ever. With the likes of Carter Whitt and Cam Hayes already carrying numerous high major offers and having Carson McCorkle committed to Virginia, Jamison is in the same conversation as each of them. Jamison is sturdy 6’3 point guard. He is equally comfortable both on or off the ball as he plays with great pace, never rushed with the ball in his hands, and has upside as an on the ball defender. He will only get better, and as we come out with out new 2021 rankings, there will be heavy conversation with him for the top spot.
We Will Look Back at the 2019 Class and See Kadin Shedrick as a 5-Star Talent
North Carolina’s 2019 class is deep, it carries no less than five players who are nationally ranked Top 50 types. However, when we looking back at this 2019 class for North Carolina in 5 years, we believe we will see Shedrick as a 5-Star and a name people are still talking heavily about. There is so much to like in his game. For starters, he is 6’11” with a 7’4″ wing span and switches ends extremely well. In this matchup against noted 5-star Isaiah Todd Shedrick was a dominating presence on the block. He scored in each way, over both shoulders and above the rim with monster dunks. He showed ball skills and touch as a possible pick/pop threat. Shedrick is a good defender with natural timing both in the passing lanes and at the rim. With so much ceiling to go, file this away and let’s revisit where Shedrick is at in 5 years time.
Durham Academy is Incredibly Well Coached
Sure they have talent, but that talent is very disciplined as well. Even without 6’6″ 5-star MJ Rice, Durham Academy was still able to manufacture open shots and great looks. The team plays very unselfish basketball. They all defend and rebound. Most importantly is they run 6 or 7 guys out on the floor who can all pass, shoot and handle the ball. Not one of them is afraid of making the big play and they all celebrate in each other’s successes. 6’4″ unsigned senior Bryant Randleman is a sure fire D1 guy who college coaches should be coming to watch regularly. Senior Michael Savarino, sophomore Cole Sinclair and others are all college level players. With the grades required to be in Sessenrolled in this schools, this is an incredibly recruitable team.
