After a solid first day of action at Comenius School, here are the performers that stood out the most on court 1:

2024 5'9 Guard/Forward Deon Harvey (Team200 13U)

It is still very early in his development, so there's no telling what position he will eventually play. Currently, he plays all five positions for Team200. On the offensive end, he is the catalyst and initiates the offense. On defense, he guards the opponents biggest player and protects the rim. In his two outings he poured in 27 and 28 points. He just gets the job done, in the early morning game he attacked the basket and got whatever he wanted. Against a bigger Carolina Pressure squad he showed his range, hitting 4 three pointers. One of which was a dagger with 2 sec left to force overtime.'

2019 6'3 Guard Stephen Sherill (Carolina Defenders)'

Sherill was on fire in their matchup vs Charlotte Nets 2021. He scored 22 points, including 5 three pointers. He has a sweet effortless stroke and nice size on his 6'3 frame. Sherill entered the game off the bench with something to prove, instantly leaving his mark on the game. I enjoyed watching his performance, as a 2019 player, a college roster could definitely use his skill set.

2021 6'1 Guard Javian Cannady (17U Team Charlotte-Herron)

At 6'1 Javian is simply just explosive, he first caught my attention on a block attempt where his arm was near the top of the square. He got to the rim several times and finish strong over defenders. I really enjoyed the energy he brings to the court, as he was everywhere on both ends of the floor. I'd like to see more of him, to get a better feel for his game but nonetheless I was impressed.'

2020 6'4 Guard DeVonte Patterson (17U SCBA)

Patterson's game stood out to me because of his approach. Not too many young ball players like to operate in the mid-range. Well Patterson is different, he elevates beautifully on his jump shot and has a nice stroke. On multiple occasions he had his defender on his hip, stopped on a dime, and pulled up. He finished with 17 pts vs. a tough Team Charlotte- Herron squad.'

2024 6'2 Forward Evan Carter (Carolina Pressure 13U)'

Evan is long and rangy, he is most effective around the basketball at this stage. He had a size advantage in their matchup with Team200, and used it pouring in 21 pts. In overtime, he was clutch! Finishing an And1 with 2 seconds left to tie the ball game. He then calmly went to the free throw and knocked it down for the game. It will be interesting to see how he develops as he continues to grow and add weight to his frame.'
