6'8 Dravon Mangum Commits to Charlotte

For the majority of Charlotte 49er fans, they may not truly understand the important of the commitment from 6'8 senior Dravon Mangum. He has been flying under the recruiting radar of many mid major schools until this past summer. You see, Mangum is the type of recruit that will get to college and people will look back and ask, where did this young man come from'' He is really, really good.

First of all, we have watched Mangum over the past few years and he has grown from a lanky 6'4 wing to a 6'8 skilled forward. He has grown over four inches and has a seven-foot wingspan to accompany a matching skill set. What's even more impressive is he still has many of the perimeter skills when he was just 6'4. This past summer at the Phenom Stay Positive event in Greensboro, North Carolina, Mangum showcased a nice blend of perimeter skills along with a nifty inside game. His game has come full circle and he was one of the more intriguing players in the event. Mangum demonstrated a smooth and fluid game and showed great mobility with his lengthy frame.''He was blocking shots on one end of the court and racing down the court for easy transition dunks. In addition, he showed tremendous range on his jumper and was able to step out and knock down 3-pointers with consistency.

Phenom's Brandon Blakeney stated,''Mangum is the real deal and his offers list continues to grow. In front of dozens of mid-major and high-major programs, Mangum put his full scoring arsenal on display. 'He shot the deep ball confidently and showed off an improved handle. At one point against the Juice All-Starz he left everyone including the opposing coaches wide-eyed and draw dropped when he banged'a one handed tomahawk off an inbound lob.'

'

Mangum will join 6'6 Isaiah Bigelow and 6'2 Cooper Robb in what is shaping up as a nice recruiting class for Charlotte. Both Bigelow and Mangum will provide length, athleticism and talent that will help Charlotte compete in ConUSA.
