An Insider's Take
Aaron Henry Commits to Michigan State

By the end of his process Aaron Henry became a very popular name with the mid west high major programs. This makes sense as Henry has an old school feel to his game. A great combination of work ethic to go along with size and a great pace and skill set.

Henry's recruitment had an interesting feel, but not unsurprising. Up until June 30 of this year (when Butler was the first power 5 school to jump in), Henry carried double digit mid-major offers. But as it typically happens, once the first high major comes in, many others follow suit.

Starting with Butler, on June 30 in 2017, Henry picked up 12 high-major offers and jumped into the national Top 150 rankings. Again, Henry is the type of guard who really succeeds at the next level. He doesn't have that above the rim flash, but his IQ is so high. All the little things, his intensity, his footwork, his vision, his toughness, he all does it at a high level.

Henry is Michigan State's 5th commitment in the 2018 class. He joins 5'10' Michigan PG Foster Loyer, 6'8' Michigan forward Gabe Brown, 6'9' Michigan post Marcus Bingham, and 6'8' Michigan post Thomas Kithier.

Henry is an extremely hard worker on the court. He plays with a blue-collar attitude and we liked his passion and purpose throughout the day. Henry is constantly pushing himself to excellence and at times can be a little hard on him. That being said, the southpaw has a soft shooting touch and can play both guard positions. He has excellent court vision and makes passing easily off the dribble. We really love his upside and potential. The ingredients are all there for this talented young combo guard.
